Using ProQuest for Psychology Research Papers

  1. Go to http://www.proquestk12.com .
    1. Log in with User Name : 01-36012 (see librarian for password).
    2. Click “ProQuest/eLibrary Products.”
    3. Select ProQuest Online.
       
  1. Once you’re logged on to ProQuest:
    1. Click “Advanced” tab on top.
    2. Type Psychology in top field, click drop-down menu, and select Subject.
    3. Type one or more key words (but not phrases) into next field. Make sure drop-down menu still says “Citation and document text” for this field.
    4. At the bottom, check box to limit results to full text documents only.
    5. Click “Search” button.
       
  1. Browse through the titles of articles in your Results list to find any that look relevant to your topic or interest.
    1. Click on title to open article.
    2. Read through the Abstract (Document Summary) near the top to see if this is the article you want.
    3. If you want the article, select the Print or Email button on top. Emailing is the best way to go to use the article on your computer at home.
    4. All citation information is included with the article.
    5. Click your back button to view other articles on your list.
       
  1. If you don’t like the list of articles, try clicking on one of the suggested topics at the top of your results list, and see if this improves your choices. (Be sure to click the "Next" link to see more suggested topics.)
     
  1. If necessary, click the Clear button and just search on your keywords (without the word Psychology).
     
  1. Click “Search Tips” for more advanced search techniques.
     
  1. Click “Browse Topics,” type in Psychology or another keyword, click “Find Term” to see what other topic searches are suggested by ProQuest.
     
  1. Also try similar searches at the Sno-Isle Regional Library web site. You will need a library card. Go to http://www.sno-isle.org, click Premium Databases, then Ebsco Databases, log on with your card number and last name. Be sure to read the Search Tips before you begin (you have to use the terms “and,” “or” and “not” between your search terms).
