Glacier Peak High School

College in the High School Program

College in the High School: Allows you to earn high school and college credits simultaneously for work done in a pre-approved advanced high school course. Students will perform the equivalent as a course taught on the college campus.

How you benefit: You can accelerate your academic studies by earning college credit while still in high school. Upon successful completion, your transcript from EvCC or Pierce College will read the course title and number, just as it appears in the college catalog.

How can credits be used towards a college degree or certificate? Each of the public, four-year colleges/universities within the state of Washington has agreed to accept transfer credits from this program. However, EvCC and Pierce College cannot guarantee whether the class will meet a college/university’s graduation requirements or be accepted by specific departments within colleges/universities. If there is a specific school you have in mind, contact their admissions office and academic department for clarification.

Difficulty of the courses: The courses are challenging and similar in content and rigor to the equivalent courses offered on the college campus. As you ponder about the possibility of pursing the College in the High School, keep in mind the following:

  • The high school calendar covers the material during a longer period of time. We have approximately 9 months (2 semesters) to the community college’s 10 weeks (1 quarter)
  • During the time you are learning and getting high school credit, you are also earning college credit.

Tuition: If you decide to enroll in this class for EvCC/Pierce CC credit, you will have to pay the college tuition cost. Tuition is approximately $180.00 for 5 quarter credits. For a registration for and deadlines for registration click here
