Captain Lennon was born 26 December 1968 in Boston, MA. He reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), Parris Island, SC in August of 1988. Upon graduation, he was assigned as a Bulk Fuel Specialist and received orders to Fort Lee, VA for schooling. In May 1989, Private First Class Lennon reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan. While assigned to 1st MAW, he held a myriad of jobs to include legal clerk/chief, orders clerk/chief, and Commanding Officer's driver. During his three year tour, he was promoted meritoriously to Corporal and Sergeant. In May of 1992, Sergeant Lennon reported to MCRD San Diego for duty as a Drill Instructor. During his two year tour as a Drill Instructor, he trained 6 recruit platoons, with the last one as a Senior Drill Instructor. Near the end of this tour in the spring of 1994, Sergeant Lennon was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning and Education Program (MECEP) and received orders to the University of Massachusetts at Boston to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. In May of 1998, Sergeant Lennon graduate Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Exercise Physiology and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. Upon commissioning, he reported to The Basic School (TBS), Quantico, VA for training. While at TBS, 2nd Lieutenant Lennon was assigned as a Infantry Officer. Upon graduation from TBS, he reported to Infantry Officer Course. In May of 1999, 2nd Lieutenant Lennon received orders to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC to serve as a platoon commander. In March of 2001, First Lieutenant Lennon's platoon was detached from 2nd LAR and attached to Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 3/6, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) for a 6 month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. In September 2001, the MEU left for deployment and participated in Exercise Bright Star in Egypt for training and preparation for Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. In November of 2001, the 26th MEU deployed as part of the first conventional forces in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. First Lieutenant Lennon's platoon participated in daily security and combat patrols, numerous raids and assisted in securing Kandahar International Airport. In May of 2002, First Lieutenant Lennon returned to 2nd LAR and received orders to be an instructor at The Basic School. Captain Lennon was reassigned to instruct at the Infantry Officers Course (IOC) in 2003. During the summer of 2005, Captain Lennon received orders to be the Marine Officer Instructor at the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit, Norwich University, VT. Captain Lennon retired from the United States Marine Corps in September 2008 and immediately accepted the position of Senior Marine Instructor of the Snohomish Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Corps.
His personal decorations include the Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with a gold star in lieu of a second award, the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal with 2 two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
He is married to the lovely Jessamy Lennon and lives in Snohomish, WA. He has two children, Madeleine Rose and Liam.
