Hall of Fame

Individuals may be nominated for the Snohomish High School Hall of Fame in the following categories:

Professional success in business, education or government
Humanitarian services, science or medicine
Athletics, arts or entertainment
Contributions to Snohomish High School (for non-Snohomish High School graduates)

The inductees will be selected from the group of nominees by a group of committee members including the principal, athletic director, current staff members, current SHS student, community members, and retired staff members. Since 1994, dozens of honorees have inducted into the Snohomish High School Hall of Fame. The list of past inductees includes:

Milena Flores (Class of 1996) – First professional basketball player in Snohomish High School history, played basketball at Stanford University and later coached women’s basketball in the Ivy League.
Keith Gilbertson, Jr. (Class of 1966) – College and professional football coach, head football coach at the University of Washington and assistant coach with the Seattle Seahawks.
Kristin Hannah (Class of 1978) – Best-selling and award-winning author, has written more than 20 novels, movie rights have been sold for three of the books.
Ben Krause (Class of 1971) – Former athlete, teacher, and coach, current local business executive and humanitarian.
Stanley Soderland (Class of 1933) - King County Superior Court judge, oversaw the grand jury investigation of police payoffs in Seattle.

Class of 2021

Denny Schuler (Class of 1964) - College football assistant coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive backs coach. In addition to his college coaching, Denny was an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 1985. Denny and colleagues have worked to raise over $270,000 to fund the Dick Armstrong Memorial Statue and to fund scholarships for Snohomish High School graduates.
Bob McDaniel (Class of 1958) - Played football in grades 9, 11, and 12 under coach Ralph Gunderson (he missed his 10th grade football season as he’d started working for his mentor, Graeme Wilson, at Snohomish Hardware (now McDaniel’s Do It Center). In 1996, Bob and his wofe Karolyn sold McDaniel’s Do It Center to their son Brad. Since 1966, Bob has been a booster of Snohomish High School, attending football and basketball games, and financially supporting every athletic program. Interviewed by the Everett Herald once during a state basketball tournament, the paper coined Bob with the moniker "Mr. Snohomish."
Dick Jansen (SHS educator from 1968-2018) - Dick started teaching at Snohomish High in 1968 and coached the men’s men’s tennis program for a remarkable 50 seasons and the women’s team for 20 seasons until retiring in 2018. While winning was never his primary goal, Coach Jansen’s wins far outweigh the losses, and he had many multi-year undefeated seasons, including league and district championships. He ended his career with an unprecedented state tournament competitor in five consecutive seasons.

Class of 2023

Bill Holt (Class of 1964) - Local insurance agent since 1968 who has been a generous supporter of youth sports in the Snohomish community for many years. In addition, Bill served on the Snohomish School District School Board for 12 years from 1981-1993.
Dr. Leeon Aller (SHS contributor) - Longtime Snohomish physician who founded the Snohomish Family Medical Center in 1953. Dr. Aller served as the team doctor at Snohomish High School for several decades and was a huge advocate for students.
Dr. Nancy Butler (Class of 1959) - First woman to receive a Ph.D. in Russian history from the University of Washington in 1972. Dr. Butler was an ESL professor at Seattle University and went on to develop the School for Teaching ESL at Seattle University.
Bob Heirman (Class of 1951) - An avid sportsman, naturalist, preservationist, and author. Bob played a large role in helping secure the Lord Hill Regional Park land from the Department of Natural Resources and Washington State Parks.
