Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Hands-on Learning, Real-Life Skills and Career Exploration
Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer a range of courses and pathways in various fields such as health care, information technology, advanced manufacturing, and more. These programs are designed to be hands-on and relevant, helping students connect what they learn in school with real-world applications. By participating in CTE, students can earn industry-recognized certification, earn college credit, and gain valuable work experience through internships and apprenticeships. Ultimately, CTE prepares students for both post-secondary education, training, and career, ensuring they have the skills needed to thrive in a competitive job market.CTE incorporates STEM concepts and hands-on projects. The Snohomish School District offers 18 different pathways in our CTE programs. These pathways provide students with a suggested sequence of courses that can lead to college credit and/or industry certification.
CTE Equivalencies
Many of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes can count toward core graduation requirements through credit equivalencies. This means that a single CTE course can fulfill both a CTE requirement and a core subject requirement, such as math, science, or English. For example, Welding Science can count as a CTE credit and fulfill a science credit requirement. This flexibility helps students meet graduation requirements while pursuing their interests and career goals.
