Advanced Placement Courses
Snohomish High School offers a variety of AP courses, so it is advised that students consider which courses will best serve their long-term goals and preparation for post-high school success. Students should understand that they are enrolling in a rigorous course which sets high academic standards and requires consistent study habits. The College Board sets curriculum requirements for these courses. More information can be found on their website.
AP courses will prepare students to pass the AP exams administered in May on a schedule determined by the College Board. The exams give high school students opportunities to demonstrate college-level achievement. Benefits vary according to the college but may include:
- Exemption by from beginning courses in a specific field
- Academic college credit awarded
- Eligibility for college honors and other special programs
